Sun Microsystems Selects Grokker™
to Demonstrate State-of-the-Art Java™ Software Product Deployment
SAN FRANCISCO, June 11 — Groxis, Inc., a pioneer in visual information
management software was selected to debut is Grokker 1.0 software
product platform during the kick-off keynote event for JavaOne™
on Tuesday. Jonathan Schwartz, Executive Vice President, Software
for Sun Microsystems, demonstrated the groundbreaking software to
a crowd of some 10,000+ keynote attendees. Early in his presentation,
Mr. Schwartz discussed the rapid advances in Java-based Web services,
and cited Grokker as a prime example of the technology already in
full deployment. “This is one of the most impressive products
I have seen in an awfully long time, from a company called Groxis,”
cited Jonathan Schwartz, during the keynote address. Grokker software
is becoming more widely recognized as the new standard for visual
information systems. Written in Java 2, the application rivals if
not outpaces any other product in its class. At the end of the Grokker
demo Schwartz added, “Do you notice Java? No you don’t.
You notice what fantastic innovation is occurring in Java.”
“We’re pleased to be working with Sun and the Java
community to build a new breed of software that continues to push
the envelope of innovation, scalability, and quality,” stated
R.J. Pittman, CEO of Groxis. “The Java 2 platform gives Groxis
a unique competitive advantage in the marketplace, because we can
build cross-platform applications faster and more consistently in
Java. And the new performance specs announced today for J2 1.4.2 and
J2 1.5 look incredibly promising!” he added.
At JavaOne, Groxis also began discussing details of its much-anticipated
public SDK. Slated for mid-Q3, the Grokker software product will be
transformed into a developer toolkit for creating scalable visual
information applications from virtually any data stream, XML feed,
file system, or database of information.
“We are gratified that Sun Microsystems introduced our product
as one of the most innovative Java applications thus far,” stated
Jean-Michel Decombe, Chief Technology Officer of Groxis. “The
Java platform has been critical to building such a complex and heavily
multithreaded product in a short time. With its striking graphics
and fluid graphical navigation, Grokker is often mistaken for a native
application. We look forward to seeding the three million Java developers
with a free Grokker plug-in Software Development Kit by the end of
the summer,” he added. About
