Grokker
Makes Online Research User-Friendly for Mac Users
Sausalito, Calif. — July 16, 2003 — Groxis, Inc., a pioneer
in information visualization software, today announced the availability
Grokker for the Apple Macintosh platform. The company’s groundbreaking
software is used for exploring vast collections of documents, journals,
photos, and web pages, -- visually. Mac users now have a powerful
new Internet research tool that lets them search the Web more deeply
and more meaningfully than with a web browser alone. Built for Mac
OS X v10.2 Jaguar and above, Grokker is one of the first programs
to leverage Apple’s Safari™ SDK for high performance “Web
Grokking.”
Since first previewing its technology in October 2002, Groxis has
received accolades from industry watchers, product reviewers, and
customers around the world. Making Grokker available to Macintosh
users was a natural and significant step in the development of the
product. Groxis plans to extend its powerful visual capabilities across
other software and services resident to the Apple platform in the
near future.
“We have been working closely with Apple engineers to optimize
the visual experience for the discriminating Macintosh user,”
stated Jean-Michel Decombe, CTO of Groxis. “We’re pleased
with our first Mac release, and have much more in store for the future,
including support for Panther,” he added.
Users continue to demand more from their information search and retrieval
experience, especially as the volumes of online data continue explode.
Groxis recognized early on that this growing problem would not be
easily addressed with a search engine and a web browser for much longer.
These tools were principally designed to display one page of information
at a time, where Grokker can display thousands of pages of information
in a meaningful and inspiring way to users of all ages and professions.
At Groxis, a thousand words are worth a picture.
“With Grokker now available to Macintosh users, we can
more aggressively address the creative and educational markets, where
Apple has such a strong presence,” said R.J. Pittman, CEO of
Groxis. “K-12 and collegiate-level academia is a key market
for Grokker, and one that we see tremendous opportunity with the Mac
platform. Students and faculty alike are constantly in need of better
learning and research tools, and Grokker fits squarely into that box.”
