Groxis, a leader in Enterprise Search Management today announced that it has added Dr. Ben Shneiderman to its Technology & Strategy advisory board. Dr. Shneiderman, a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Founding Director of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory and Member of the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Maryland at College Park, will play an integral part in enhancing the visual search technology of Grokker ESM.
Grokker ESM is an innovative information management and discovery tool that simultaneously retrieves information from multiple sources, dynamically clusters the entire set and presents results in a topically organized visual map or outline view. Grokker.s concise visual presentation enables researchers to discover connections among content sources, explore previously underutilized resources, easily share results with others for collaborative learning, and come to a deeper understanding of the research topic.

Among his many achievements, Dr. Shneiderman was elected as a Fellow of the Association for Computing (ACM) in 1997 and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2001. Dr. Shneiderman also received the ACM SIGCHI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.

Dr. Shneiderman has authored several highly regarded books in the area of human-computer interaction including Leonardo's Laptop: Human Needs and the New Computing Technologies (MIT Press), which won the IEEE Distinguished Literary Contribution award in 2004. Dr. Shneiderman also pioneered the highlighted textual link in 1983, which became part of Hyperties, a precursor to the web. His move into information visualization helped spawn the successful BI analytics company Spotfire and Dr. Shneiderman has been a consultant for many companies including Apple, IBM, Intel, and Microsoft.
Groxis is also pleased to announce that it has recently appointed two industry veterans to its executive staff. Marcelline Saunders has joined as VP of Marketing and Product Management and Punkaj Jain has come on board as VP of Engineering.
Ms. Saunders brings over 25 years of experience in information and content management, most recently holding senior product management roles at ZANTAZ, a market leader in hosted email archiving, and Hummingbird, where she managed their enterprise search and knowledge management product lines.
Mr. Jain holds over 20 years of experience in building commercial enterprise software systems in global, mid-sized and start-up organizations. Prior to joining Groxis, Mr. Jain has served as VP of Engineering at Bitpass, a leader in providing e-commerce solutions for incentive, rewards, and monetization of digital content; and as Senior Director of Engineering at e-learning solution provider Convergys (DigitalThink).
